INFORSE East Africa Regional Policy Engagement

The Green Ambassadors Club joined the INFORSE East Africa regional dialogue this month to push clean, community-owned energy up the policy agenda across Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda.

Why this matters

Millions of East African households still rely on charcoal, kerosene and firewood. INFORSE (International Network for Sustainable Energy) brings together civil-society organisations that scale locally-appropriate solutions — solar, improved cookstoves, biogas — and translate that field evidence into national and regional policy.

Our contributions

• Presented Kimmi Island solar deployment as a replicable island/lakeshore model.
• Shared lessons from our women-led improved-cookstove work in Wakiso.
• Advocated for zero-VAT on certified solar home systems and clean-cooking equipment.

What comes next

We are co-drafting a East Africa position paper on financing community energy for COP31 and rolling out training-of-trainers sessions with partner clubs in Nebbi and Mukono.
