Kimmi is located in the central Uganda in Mukono district and is one of the busiest islands on Lake Victoria with fishing being the major economic activity feeding thousands of people at the island.

The primary goal of the project was to equip the locals with eco-friendly business skills that build an economically sustainable community and to also provide solutions to the overwhelming issues of waste management at the island.

In an effort to offer a sustainable solution to the escalating poverty situation at the island; GAC provided training to 150 girls and women who were equipped with practical business skills in the production of liquid soap, herbal soap and body jelly. The purpose was to transform the lives of women who had a history of indulging in prostitution.
